Top 10 Health Policy Advances

Note that i said conservatives, and not just Republicans. If all the conservative or “Blue Dog” Democrats stop objections, the Republicans would be a non-issue. Given the way they are self-destructing, that may be a foregone conclusion anyway. Time will tell.

So we are working on a series of proposals to address the questions that you’re raising. I believe that we can work them out. But those are specific questions as opposed to broad, philosophical questions about whether government ever has a role to play or not.

Many of you will look upon me as somebody who is “taking advantage” of our system. Many of you will have the unfortunate mindset that if I am are getting something for free, I must be taking it directly from you. Please be assured that i paid into the system for years and that i too wish I had made a decent income all these years. Sadly I did not.

Riding a city bus can lend itself to many occasions for entertainment. Watching the old guy try and hit on the 17 year old on her way home from school. Overhearing the one-up-manship of who was in jail longer or who has been out the shortest amount of time. All can be very amusing for people watching during the commute.

At the core of the far right’s culpability is its ongoing attack on the legitimacy of U.S. government-a venomous campaign not so different from the backdrop to the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. Then it was focused on “government bureaucrats” and the ATF. This time it has been more about Obama’s birth certificate and health care reform. In either case, it expresses the dangerous idea that the federal government lacks valid authority. It is this, rather than violent rhetoric per se, that is the most dangerous aspect of right-wing extremism.

The sad hypocrisy of what’s going on right now. The left is saying it’s the right. The right is saying that’s stupid and insulting to believe that what’s going on in the media convinces anybody to pick up a gun.

To be fair the bill has some good points. There can be no pre-existing condition exclusions. Your policy can’t be cancelled on you. Insurers are supposed to pay the claims in a timely manner. I wonder if this means they can’t keep sending you those little forms to fill out to clarify your claim.

Hostess: Senator A, can you say that with all the back-room negotiations and special awards to some senators that the President has really been mindful of doing what America demands?
